PLAYER ELIGIBILITY AND AGE GROUPS (Fall 2024/Spring 2025 Town, and Fall 2024/Spring 2025 Travel)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:

TOWN (U6-U14):

• One registration fee covers the one season (Fall or Spring - 7 games).
• Games are on Sundays between 8 am and 3:15 pm
• Pre-K/K does not practice, other age groups may hold one practice during the week
• U8-U14 teams are picked via a coach draft process
• U6 teams are formed by the commissioner, generally based on age and school

TOWN (SHOOTING STARS - U4)

• Available in the Spring only
  
• Six 45-minute sessions on Sundays, no practices

TRAVEL (U10-U14):

• One Registration Fee for BOTH Travel Fall and Spring seasons

• Requires a commitment to play BOTH in the Fall and Spring
• One to two practices per week
• Most games on Saturdays (with occasional mid-week games as required because of rescheduling
• Tryouts take place at the end of May/beginning of June. 

TRAVEL (U17-U19)

• Available in the Spring only
  
• One to two practices per week
• Most games on Sunday afternoons
• Typically only one boys and one girls team per age group (U17 and U19)
• However, depending on registration numbers SSC may not be able to place a team in an age group or may combine U17 & U19 players in the older age group. 
• Tryouts take place in November.

REGISTRATION CALENDAR AND FEES for the 2024-2025 season

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

• Please log in via the "Member Login" link at the top right hand corner of our website. We hope you find this process simple and straight forward. Contact us if you have any problems or questions at [email protected].

• PAYMENT: ONLY CREDIT CARDS are accepted for registration payment.
• BIRTH CERTIFICATES should be available and ready for Registrar's review upon Stoneham Soccer Club's request. Birth Certificates are required for the Travel program, and must be presented for review at tryouts.
  

• Our registration software will choose the Registration Group based solely on the players Date of Birth.
• Based on the player's DOB, there will be some flexibility on moving up or down a grade group.

• Please contact us at [email protected] if you disagree with the grade based group automatically assigned during registration.
  

TRAINING PROGRAMS

SSC occasionally partners with an outside organization in the Fall to provide technical training for our PreK - Grade 8 players. Further information will be coming soon from our Player Development Committee.  A quick summary is below, which is subject to change:

• The training for Travel Players Grades 3-8 will be required (Fall Season only)
• The training for Town Players Grades PK-2 will be strongly recommended (Both Fall and Spring Seasons)
• This training will be included within your registration fee.
• The Fall training schedule will be released as soon as it is available.
• We know that some schedule conflicts are going to occur, but we strongly encourage all eligible players to attend. Club players who are already receiving technical training would not be expected to attend, but would be welcome if schedules allow.

Below is a general timeline of the Stoneham Soccer Club. This may change at any point and should be used as a guide.

Fall Season Registration opens in April.

• Town

• Regular registration generally ends by the first week of June
• Late registration remains open until around the end of August, but there is an additional fee and first-come-first-serve only. We encourage all players to register early to avoid late fees and the possibility of not being placed on a team.
• Parents should hear about team placement by the Sunday after Labor Day.
• First game is typically the second Sunday after Labor Day.
• Grade1/2 through Grade 5/6 teams hold practices once per week.
• PreK/K does not practice during the week.
• Grade 7/8 teams may practice, but it is not required.
• Season is 7 weeks long.

• Travel

• Registration ends the first week of June. This registration includes both Fall and Spring Travel seasons.
• Tryouts occur during the first 2 weeks of June.
• Teams are finalized by mid-July.
• Parents should hear about team placement by the first week of August.
• First game is typically the first Saturday after Labor Day.
• Teams hold one to two practices per week.
• Season is 9 weeks long.

Spring Season Registration opens in September.

• Town:

• Regular registration generally closes October 31.
• Late registration remains open, but is an additional fee and first-come-first-serve only. We encourage all players to register early to avoid late fees and the possibility of not being placed on a team.
• Teams are kept together between Fall and Spring unless
• • Players from the Fall do not re-register for the Spring.
  • Players register for the Spring that did not play in the Fall.
  • There are significant coaching changes.
  • Other circumstances handled by the commissioners and/or registrars.
• Parents should hear about team placement by April 1
• First game is typically the second Sunday in April.
• Grade1/2 through Grade 5/6 teams hold practices once per week.
• PreK/K does not practice during the week.
• Grade 7/8 teams may practice, but it is not required.
• Season is 7 weeks long.

• Travel

• Grade 3-8: There is no registration for the Spring. Fall teams are carried over to the Spring Season.
• Grade 9-12: Registration/Tryouts occur the previous Fall.
• Teams hold one to two practices per week.
• Grade 3-8 Season is 10 weeks long.
• Grade 9-12 Season is 7 weeks long.
